You know those people, who have a closet and a million drawers filled with clothes and shoes, and yet they still spend their limited amount of free time sitting at their computer looking for new clothes? Yeah, well, I'm one of those people. I have no idea why, but when it comes to clothes, I go crazy! I have way too much clothes as it is, but I still want more. Why? I would love to say that it's genetic. My mom's a shopaholic, so I have to be too. Nope, that's not it. It's really just me. Yes, I am a bargain shopper. I don't usually buy expensive clothes, but if I'm buying twice as much for half as much...um, I'm not a math wiz, but I think that adds up to I'M NOT SAVING ANY MONEY!
I bet your trying to figure out the point of this little rant, right? And here it is, I have a solution!
You know all those clothes that sit at the back of your closet and never get used. As long as they aren't tattered and gross. You can sell them in a garage sale, or take them to a gently used clothing store; anything that doesn't sell, you can take to a local life center, charity or church. You're making a bit of money and giving back to the community as well.
Oh, and anytime you feel like you just have to buy something that you don't really need, think of a better way to spend your money. Think of your responsibilities. If your taking money out of your tithes or savings to go shopping, then you probably aren't being very responsible. Save your money for things that you really need. Also, remind yourself that if you spend a bunch of money on clothes, that takes away money you might want later for gas, going out with friends, special events or even an emergency. Think about the future and if you even have space in your closet for more clothes. Or instead of shopping, watch a movie at a friend's house, go swimming, or take a walk. There are plenty of things you can do that don't involve spending a bunch of money. There's more to life than shopping, a lot more.
